WFPS along with Councillor Gilroy Announce New Safety Initiative
Fire department set to launch drone program
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service announced the launch of a new drone program Friday.
The program, which will officially get underway in June, will allow for a safer, faster response to a variety of emergency situations.
The drone will be equipped with a thermal imaging camera and will allow first responders to better locate fires and hot spots.
Coun. Cindy Gilroy, chair of the standing policy committee on innovation, and Scott Wilkinson, WFPS senior academy officer, were both on hand for the announcement — and a drone demonstration — Friday morning at the WFPS training academy.
